The Directing Emphasis requires

The core courses for all theatre majors:

• Introduction to Acting (THEA 1)
• Visual Arts of the Theatre (THEA 2)
• Theatre Crafts Sets/Costumes/Properties (THEA 20A)
  or Management/Lights/Sound (THEA 20B)
• 3 Courses on the History of Theatre (THEA 110, THEA 111, and THEA 115)
• Modern Dance (DANCE 10a or 10b)
• A specialized movement class such as Kabuki (THEA 19), Mime (THEA 13), or Exploration of Cultual Style (DANCE 150)
• Senior Seminar (THEA 190)
• Senior Thesis (THEA 191)
• 4 Theatre Production Crew Assignments (THEA 52)

PLUS:

• An additional 3 Theatre History Courses (THEA 115)
• Introduction to Directing (THEA 130)
• Playwriting (THEA 140)
• Senior Project in Dramaturgy (THEA 194)

A student with a Dramaturgy Emphasis in Theatre will be assigned to dramaturg for one of the departmental productions for their Senior Project. The Senior Thesis will be written the semester before and will deal with the assigned project.
